A rhizome used mainly in dried, powdered form. Known for its bright yellow pigment (Curcumin) and warm, earthy, slightly bitter taste. Widely valued for culinary and medicinal uses.

Turmeric Fingers/Bulbs (polished or unpolished) and Turmeric Powder. High-Curcumin varieties like Erode and Salem are premium.

Moisture: Max 10%. Extraneous Matter: Max 1%. Curcumin Content: Min 2.5–4.5%. Must be free from Lead Chromate (critical contamination point).

Harvest Time

February to May (main crop).

Shelf Life

24 months for whole fingers; 12–18 months for powder as color and potency fade over time.
