The solid residue remaining after oil extraction from cottonseed. It is a high-protein feed supplement for cattle and livestock, especially dairy animals. Provides good energy and fiber content.
Export Types
Cottonseed De-Oiled Cake (DOC) with lower oil and higher protein, and Cottonseed Expeller Cake with higher residual oil. Available in powder, flake, or pellet form.
Specification (Key Export Metrics)
Protein (CP): Min 40–48% (dry basis). Oil/Fat: Max 1–7%. Fiber: Max 12%. Moisture: Max 10%. Aflatoxin: Max 20 ppb. Gossypol levels must be tested and declared due to toxicity risk in monogastrics.
Harvest Time
October to February (cotton harvest). Processing takes place year-round.
Shelf Life
6 to 12 months (longer for DOC due to lower fat). Must be stored dry to prevent mold and rancidity.
